The growing Calgary region skyline — rising housing demand
A province under pressure.
Communities across Alberta are experiencing population growth — and housing costs are rising with it.
The Need

Alberta is growing. So is the gap.

Communities across Alberta are experiencing population growth and rising housing costs. Many residents—including seniors, young families, single parents, and essential workers—are increasingly unable to find housing that fits within their means.

Why It Matters

  • Stable housing improves health and educational outcomes.
  • Affordable homes strengthen local economies.
  • Seniors can age in place within their communities.
  • Essential workers can live close to their workplaces.
  • Families gain the stability needed to thrive.

Our Response

The Chestermere Affordable Housing Society is actively working across Alberta to develop new affordable housing units, support rental assistance programs, and collaborate with partners to ensure long-term housing sustainability.
